We can't make any claims that the hay bags would prevent heaves. However, the nice thing about these bags is that when they're eating, their nostrils are blocked from the hay by the hay bag material, so they're not breathing in the dust while they're eating. It's also really easy to soak hay in the drawstring bags. We’ve met  a lot of horses with heaves that are doing better with this option. The bags also seem to reduce a lot of hay dust and additional particles flying around the stall when in use or moving them around. We can tell a big difference in dust levels between these and regular hay nets/loose hay.
