Are your products breakaway?Updated a year ago

Yes! All of our halters (M, L, XL and XXS, XS, S) have a leather crownpiece that is rated to break within 50-100 lbs of pressure if they get in an emergency. If this happens, we sell a Halter Crown Replacement to safely get your horse back into the pasture. As the leather wears, the breakaway strength may be reduced over time. 

Additionally, the Leather Muzzle Straps that come with the grazing muzzle & our Houdini Helper Corner Straps are designed to break away in an emergency. If you find they are breaking away too easily, we have some great tips and tricks here. We also sell Replacement Straps. We do not recommend replacing any of these items with baling twine or zip ties, as plastic baling twine and zip ties can have a large range of tensile strength and can damage your muzzle or become dangerous for your horse. In a pinch, natural baling twine can work, though we recommend replacing it with a leather or hoop & loop strap as soon as possible.
